The environmental damage on many of these production sites is grim, while the working conditions for the mainly female work force are equally poor.
The Fair Trade Flower Label guarantees that the flowers bearing this label are
produced without environmental damage by people who are paid fair wages with associated benefits.
Rosinante is a pedal driven machine. As it moves through the pedestrian areas the brightly coloured 3 meter high bouquet of flowers gently turns creating a joyously memorable picture. On the front there is a battery operated TV which shows a short video loop explaining the situation. Several of the giant flowers have speakers and can tell their production stories to the passers by.
